Ordu, with approximately 700 recorded plant species, 130 of which are endemic, ranks among Turkey's significant natural riches. Especially in summer, hundreds of different flowers blooming on plateaus and high-altitude areas add a unique color to the city's natural beauty.
LIVES ABOUT 20 DAYS
The Akkuş lily, which blooms in the mountainous areas of Akkuş district in June and July, lives for about 20 days, and was first identified in 1993, stands out among these endemic species. After about five years of scientific studies, the plant was introduced to the literature under the name "Lilium akkusianum" and draws attention with its height reaching up to about 1.5 meters. An administrative fine of 699,000 TL is imposed on those who pick this protected endemic species.
