Medication support decision for 1 million patients in smoking cessation treatment

With the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette, it was decided that up to 1 million patients receiving smoking cessation treatment can benefit from certain medications provided by the Ministry of Health through tobacco addiction treatment and education units, regardless of whether they have social security.

A presidential decree on drug support for patients undergoing smoking cessation treatment has been published in the Official Gazette.

1 MILLION PEOPLE WILL BENEFIT REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY HAVE SOCIAL SECURITY

According to the decree; patients receiving smoking cessation treatment, provided that their number does not exceed 1 million and regardless of whether they have any social security, will be able to benefit from nicotine replacement preparations and medications containing Bupropion HCI, Varenicline, and Cytisine, which will be supplied by the Ministry of Health and distributed to primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare institutions.

Patients will benefit from these medications through tobacco addiction treatment and education units. The provisions of the decree will be executed by the Minister of Health.
