In the election held during the 6th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Volleyball Federation, the current president Mehmet Akif Üstündağ was re-elected for the third time, surpassing Gökhan Dinçer.

ÜSTÜNDAĞ AND DİNÇER COMPETED

At the general assembly held at Crowne Plaza Ankara, a majority was achieved with the participation of 188 out of 238 delegates. In the general assembly where the current president Mehmet Akif Üstündağ and Gökhan Dinçer were candidates for president, Abdi Serdar Üstünsalih was unanimously elected as the chairman of the council.

ÜSTÜNDAĞ ELECTED PRESIDENT FOR THE 3RD TIME

Mehmet Akif Üstündağ was re-elected as the president of the Turkish Volleyball Federation with 121 votes. Gökhan Dinçer, who competed for the presidency, received 95 votes. Üstündağ was elected president again in 2024, following his previous elections in 2016 and 2021.

WHO IS MEHMET AKİF ÜSTÜNDAĞ?

Mehmet Akif Üstündağ was born on February 4, 1963, in Malatya. Notable for his volleyball career, Üstündağ played for teams such as Galatasaray, Petrol Ofisi, Köy Hizmetleri, and Muhafızgücü. Üstündağ, who started his coaching career, also served as an administrator in the Turkish Football Federation for a period. In 2016, Üstündağ became a candidate for the presidency of the Turkish Volleyball Federation and was elected as the 16th president. Having held this position for approximately 8 years, Mehmet Akif Üstündağ ran for election again in 2024 and was re-elected.
