The main figure of the Çiftlik Bank scandal, Mehmet Aydın, known as "Tosuncuk," sent a letter written in his own handwriting from prison. In the letter, Aydın stated that the Bitcoin machines at the facility operating in Uruguay and Paraguay are still active, and he claimed that if he is placed under house arrest, he would make payments to the victims.

Mehmet Aydın, who has been at the center of the Çiftlik Bank scandal and is known as "Tosuncuk" for years, sent a letter from prison drawing attention to the victims. Aydın claimed that if he were placed under house arrest, he could compensate the victims' losses.

"GIVE ME HOUSE ARREST, I WILL MAKE PAYMENTS"

In the letter obtained by lawyer Sevgi Erarslan, Aydın wrote that the Bitcoin production facility he established in 2017 is still active. Aydın, who claimed that income is generated through machines located in Paraguay and Uruguay, stated, "If house arrest is applied under judicial control, I will have the opportunity to make payments."

Aydın stated the following in his letter:

"On January 24, 2017, I established Turkey's largest bitcoin production facility. Currently, the Bitcoin machines in the Bitcoin facility operating in Uruguay and Paraguay are actively continuing production. I reiterate that if I am given the opportunity under the house arrest condition of judicial control, I have the ability to compensate for the damages, and I announce this to all victims and the public."

In his letter, Mehmet Aydın also expressed that the total receivables of 4,414 victims amount to 70 million 514 thousand TL, that the seized assets are worth many times more than this amount, and that the three companies appointed as trustees have a total capital of 156 million TL.

A RECORD PRISON SENTENCE WAS REQUESTED

In the Çiftlik Bank case, 20 defendants, including Mehmet Aydın and his brother Fatih Aydın, were tried, and the court sentenced the Aydın brothers to 45,376 years and 6 months, one of the highest prison sentences in Turkish judicial history.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In 2016, a chain scheme called "Çiftlik Bank," established by Mehmet Aydın, erupted and quickly became one of Turkey's largest fraud cases. The company, which promised high returns to investors through a "virtual farm" application, actually operated as a classic Ponzi scheme that paid previous users with the money deposited by new participants. At the beginning of 2018, the system collapsed, the company's assets were seized, and thousands of people were victimized. It was revealed that the collected money amounted to hundreds of millions of lira, while Mehmet Aydın fled abroad and was wanted for a long time. In 2021, Aydın surrendered to Turkish authorities in Brazil, and his trial concluded in 2025, resulting in him and his brother receiving prison sentences totaling tens of thousands of years. The Çiftlik Bank scandal has gone down in history as one of the most striking examples of the significant risks posed by promises of high returns made through digital platforms.
