Mehmet Uçum announced the formula for Erdoğan's candidacy again.

28.11.2024 10:10

Mehmet Uçum, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Council, made statements during a program regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's candidacy for re-election. Uçum stated that it is possible for Erdoğan to run again, saying, "I believe it is important to provide the opportunity for candidacy when we have a strong leader."

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum made statements that will stir the political agenda during a program he attended on CNN Türk. Responding to questions from CNN Türk's Ankara Representative Dicle Canova, Uçum said regarding MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, "It should be evaluated as extremely strong, courageous, and visionary proposals."

Uçum, who will stir the political backstage with his statements, also provided a formula for Erdoğan's candidacy, stating that it is possible for Erdoğan to run again. Uçum said, "With a decision to be made in the Parliament before May 7, 2028, a path can be opened for our President to be a candidate. Erdoğan is a national value of Turkey. I think it is important to ensure the possibility of candidacy while we have such a value and a strong leader."

Highlights from Mehmet Uçum's statements are as follows:

Society has distanced itself from the PKK regarding Turkey's Kurds. Who are the others? There were also mentions in Mr. Bahçeli's statements. The DEM Party, which should be a party of Turkey, and other parties. They also need to shed the burden of terrorism from their shoulders.

"BAHÇELİ'S PROPOSALS ARE EXTREMELY STRONG"

Mr. Bahçeli has made a bolder assessment. He said that if such a process occurs, even the right to hope could be debated. It should be evaluated as extremely strong, courageous, and visionary proposals.

"EVERYONE IS EXPLOITING ÖCALAN IN SOME WAY"

Everyone is exploiting Öcalan in some way. They say, 'Öcalan is our will.' At least it would be exposed that they are exploiting Öcalan. It will be revealed that they are not sincere in this matter. DEM will also have to think seriously. They are also exploiting the DEM voters who have decided to contribute to Turkey through democratic politics.

CAN ERDOĞAN RUN AGAIN?

The Presidential Government System is already a presidential system. After 1960, membership in parties has been restricted. It is not a necessity for a president to be a party member; it is a possibility. There is no system called party presidency. Our system is a presidential system. It is possible for him to be a candidate. With a decision to be made in the Parliament before May 7, 2028, a path can be opened for our President to be a candidate. Erdoğan is a national value of Turkey. I think it is important to ensure the possibility of candidacy while we have such a value and a strong leader.
