Nearly 20 million citizens living in the megacity of Istanbul are curious about when the first snow will fall in the city, and the expected statement from meteorology experts has arrived. In the statement, it was mentioned, "Looking at Istanbul, there is not much snowfall expected before the New Year. Temperatures will remain high in October as well. However, we will see a possibility of snowfall for 1-2 days in January in Istanbul."

Noting that Turkey will experience a winter with La Nina this year, and therefore there will not be extreme temperatures, CNN Türk Meteorology Consultant Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen made striking evaluations.

Stating that rainfall is expected to be slightly higher than last year from an agricultural perspective, Şen said, "Will it snow? Yes, it will snow in Anatolia; it snowed in Anatolia last year as well. But this year we will see more snowfall in Central Anatolia and towards the west. Will it snow in Istanbul? Of course, this is the most important question. Why is it important? Because nearly 20 million people live in Istanbul. Therefore, when we look at Istanbul, not much snowfall is expected before the New Year," he expressed.

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that temperatures will remain high in October as well, saying, "In January, we will see a possibility of 1-2 days of snowfall in Istanbul. Will it stick to the ground or not? But we will likely see it in the air. Therefore, it seems that we will spend this winter in this way," he said.
