23.06.2026 08:50

Turkey is entering a heatwave that will intensify in the coming week. While it is noted that temperatures could feel as high as 45 degrees Celsius under the sun, particularly in the Aegean and western regions, temperatures in Istanbul and Ankara are expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius. Experts are urging citizens to be cautious against the risk of forest fires.

Temperatures across Turkey are rising again this week. With the heat wave particularly affecting the western regions, thermometers will exceed 30 degrees Celsius in many provinces. Experts have noted that the risk of forest fires has increased until Thursday due to dry air and rising temperatures.

TEMPERATURES TO RISE FURTHER IN WESTERN PROVINCES

According to meteorological assessments, temperatures will increase by 2 to 3 degrees in the Marmara, Western Black Sea, and Central Anatolia regions. While temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius in Istanbul and Ankara, they will measure 34 degrees in Izmir and 36 degrees in Aydın. It is stated that the perceived temperature under the sun could reach up to 45 degrees, especially in Izmir and its surroundings.

Although occasional coolness may be felt due to winds blowing from the north and northwest, high temperatures are expected to persist.

STORM WARNING FROM METEOROLOGY

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a warning for strong winds and short-term storms in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.

According to the statement, winds are expected to blow from the north and northwest in the western part of the region, and from the south and southwest in the east, at speeds of 40 to 70 kilometers per hour. Authorities have requested precautions against adverse events such as roof blow-offs, transportation disruptions, and similar issues.

DUST TRANSPORT EXPECTED IN SOUTHEASTERN ANATOLIA

The Meteorology also announced that dust transport may occur in Southeastern Anatolia. It was stated that dust transport could lead to a decrease in air quality, reduced visibility, and pose risks for citizens with respiratory conditions.

SHOWERS EXPECTED IN EASTERN PARTS

According to the latest assessments, partly cloudy and locally very cloudy weather will prevail in the interior and eastern parts of the country. Intermittent showers and thunderstorms are expected in most of the Eastern Mediterranean, the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, the north and west of Eastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Niğde, Kayseri, Sivas, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, and Kilis. In other regions, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy and clear.
