A military vehicle collided with a car on the main road between Güzelyurt and Akçay in Northern Cyprus. In the accident, Private Uğurcan Işık, who was in the military vehicle, was martyred, while 11 soldiers were injured. The news of Uğurcan Işık's martyrdom was delivered to his family in Malatya.

One soldier was killed and 11 soldiers were injured after a military vehicle collided with a car and overturned in the city of Güzelyurt in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

According to information obtained from the TRNC Police Press Office, the accident occurred at 09:00 on the Güzelyurt-Akçay main road.

The military vehicle, which was traveling from Akçay to Güzelyurt, collided with a car traveling in the same direction and then veered off the road and overturned. According to initial findings, 12 soldiers, including the driver of the military vehicle, were injured in the accident. The injured were transported to hospitals in the area by ambulances. An investigation has been launched into the accident. In a statement from the TRNC Police Press Office, it was shared that one of the injured soldiers, despite the intervention at the hospital, could not be saved and was martyred.

The Turkish flag was hung on the building where the family lives by the metropolitan municipality firefighters. It was learned that Işık was single.

Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler also issued a condolence message for Martyr Işık. Minister Güler said, "Our heroic comrade was martyred on August 22, 2024.
