The Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, announced that on April 2, shopping was done at twice the value compared to April 1. Minister Bolat reported that the amount of card transactions, which was 14 billion lira on April 1, rose to 28 billion lira on April 2, stating, "The boycotters lost, and the Turkish economy won."

The Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, made the following statements:

"· THEY FAILED, THE BOYCOTTERS LOST. TURKEY'S ECONOMY WON.

· On April 2, compared to April 1, shopping was done at twice the value.

· Efforts to forget corruption and bribery operations and to strike a blow to the economy were in vain, as our people stood firmly by the national economy, tradesmen, and commerce.

· The solidarity between the government and the people frustrated the boycotters.

Our people strongly supported the national economy, commerce, production, tradesmen, and local and national brands.

The shopping and trade stoppage calls made by the main opposition and some circles for Wednesday, April 2, with the aim of halting the economy and commerce ended in disappointment.

The efforts of our government, united with our people, to support trade, the national economy, and our tradesmen were met with great appreciation by our people. Despite April 2 being the day after a three-day Ramadan Bayram holiday, the vast majority of our people, having made significant expenditures on the eve of the holiday and during the holiday, participated intensely in shopping to frustrate the boycott calls and the boycotters at shops, supermarkets, shopping centers, restaurants, and cafes.

In this context, according to the statistical data kept by the Interbank Card Center (BKM), it has been observed that on April 2, shopping was done at twice the amount compared to April 1, based on the recorded shopping transaction data between 00:00 and 17:00. The amount of card shopping, which was 14 billion TL on April 1, rose to 28 billion TL on April 2. It is clearly seen from the figures that shopping on April 2 was above the daily averages between March 3 and March 22. Moreover, only 55% of card transactions go through BKM, while the remaining 45% of card transactions are shared with BKM by banks within 5 days.

These results show that our people have boycotted the boycotters. Our people have supported the economy, commerce, tradesmen, and local and national brands. The opposition's plans to forget corruption and bribery operations and to strike a blow to the economy have once again ended in disappointment. We express our gratitude to our noble and esteemed people who made this result possible, to the business organizations that condemned and opposed the boycott calls, and to everyone who contributed to the solidarity we showed as a government and nation."
