The discussions on the articles of the 2023 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal continue in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler answered the questions of the deputies during the budget discussions. In response to a question regarding the recent developments in Syria, Güler stated, "We are closely following the developments in Syria. The new administration is taking very important steps in terms of establishing relations with the world with the positive messages it continuously announces. They have started to establish direct relations with the EU, the UK, France, Italy, and the USA. These are developments in favor of the new administration. Additionally, they clearly express that they have started to work with the public by giving positive messages to the society within Syria and that they will continue to do so." "NOT AT THE LEVEL WE DESIRE"Speaking about the return of Syrian migrants in Turkey, Güler said, "Syrian citizens living in our country have started to carry out their activities regarding exit, including new opportunities that have opened up for them. Although it is not yet at the desired level, we believe that with the regulations to be made, our Syrian citizens will return to their lands safely and with dignity." "WE BELIEVE THEY WILL LEAVE WITHOUT CAUSING HARM"On the other hand, Güler stated, "Currently, in the Ayn El-Arab region, YPG/PKK members are resisting leaving the area, and they have carried out an action in the Hasakah region. The new administration is particularly urging them to leave Raqqa and Tabqa. We believe they can make these agreements among themselves. We think they will leave these areas, including heavy weapons, by surrendering to the administration, without disturbing the citizens there and without causing them harm through larger conflicts."
