There is a 30% difference between the salaries of those retiring in 2024 and those who will retire in 2025. Speaking about whether there is any work being done to eliminate this difference, Minister Işıkhan stated, "We do not intend to make significant changes to the retirement system."

Millions of employees and retirees in Turkey are discussing the salary difference in retirement. There is a 30% difference on the agenda between the salaries of those who will retire in 2024 and those who will retire in 2025. Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan was a guest at the AA Editorial Board. He addressed the salary difference among retirees.

"WE DO NOT THINK ABOUT CHANGING RETIREMENT"

Işıkhan stated that they do not plan any changes in the retirement system and continued his speech as follows: Among the questions we receive from the public, we discussed this in the EKK, and during some periods when inflation is high, such issues can come to the agenda. Differences regarding monthly pension rates can arise. We do not think about making too many changes to the retirement system. We cannot intervene alone. I know that our other ministries are sensitive about this issue. It is necessary to examine the topic carefully; we have faced such situations before.

"OUR REQUEST IS FOR THEM TO CONTINUE WORKING"

As SGK and the Ministry, we need our employees to produce and work more. Retirement is a right. After completing a certain working period, we will all retire. My request from the citizens is this: while they are healthy, they need to work and produce more to ensure the economic growth of our country. We anticipate that the longer they stay in the system, the higher their retirement pensions will be. Of course, we are not in a position to intervene in the preferences of our citizens. Each of our citizens can easily see this on e-Government. They can submit their application and gain the right to a retirement pension. I kindly ask them to prefer to stay in the system and continue working. Our citizens can actually work; there will also be a loss of skilled labor. The market is so dynamic that we can predict that the labor shortage will be filled quickly. Even our President works with such dedication.

MINISTER IŞIKHAN COMPARED RETIREMENT WITH GERMANY

In Germany, people pay premiums for 40 years and receive retirement pensions for 20 years; in our case, it is the opposite: they pay premiums for 20 years and receive retirement pensions for 40 years. The more premiums we pay and the higher we show our earnings subject to premiums, the higher our retirement pension will be.

"THERE ARE PEOPLE RECEIVING 80 THOUSAND TL RETIREMENT PENSION"

If we prefer to retire in a short time, of course, our retirement pension will be low. We have raised the lowest retirement pension to 12,500 TL; it is mistakenly believed that a large portion of our retirees receive 12,500 TL, no, that is wrong. There are citizens receiving retirement pensions of 50-60-80 thousand TL.

  • A new law in Idaho restricts minors' access to healthcare services without parental consent. This poses a problem for young individuals like 13-year-old Aleah, who is 36 weeks pregnant. Critics argue that the law overlooks the fact that parents may not always be available or reliable.
