The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, made an assessment regarding the inflation figures for November announced by TÜİK. While the annual inflation reached its lowest level in 48 months, Minister Şimşek shared a different data, stating, "The lowest monthly inflation in the last 2.5 years has occurred. We expect the moderate trend in monthly inflation to continue in December."
The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the inflation figures for November. In November, inflation was 0.87. On an annual basis, inflation decreased to 31.07. Monthly inflation is at its lowest level in 30 months, while annual inflation is at its lowest level in 48 months.
STRIKING STATEMENT FROM MINISTER ŞİMŞEK
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek also made evaluations regarding the November inflation figures announced by TÜİK. In a statement on X, Minister Şimşek said, "The lowest monthly inflation in the last 2.5 years has occurred."
"IMPROVEMENT EXCEEDS 44 POINTS"
Minister Şimşek's full statement is as follows; "In November, annual inflation decreased to 31.1%, the lowest level in the last four years, and the improvement compared to May 2024 exceeded 44 points. Annual core goods inflation fell below 19%."
"WE EXPECT MODERATE TREND TO CONTINUE"
Food inflation, which was significantly above the long-term average during August-October, normalized in November. We expect the moderate trend in monthly inflation to continue in December.
The key elements that will contribute to the disinflation process in 2026 are:
• Supportive global financial conditions and moderate commodity prices
• Tight monetary policy
• Strengthened financial stability
• Supportive fiscal policy
• Determining managed/regulated prices in line with inflation targets within budgetary means through tax and fee updates
• Rule-based pricing in education
• Acceleration of improvements in expectations with the continued decline in inflation
• Supply-side policies implemented in many areas, especially in food, housing, and energy
