Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that there are nearly 95 million mobile phones in Turkey, with 32 million of them being compatible with 5G. Minister Uraloğlu announced, "We will cover all of Turkey within 2 years; this is our goal. But initially, we will start providing signals on April 1." Uraloğlu expressed that 5G technology will offer services that are 10 times faster.

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, met with members of the press at an iftar program.

32 MILLION MOBILE PHONES COMPATIBLE WITH 5G

Minister Uraloğlu stated in his remarks here that they will receive the first signal from 5G on April 1. Uraloğlu said, “There are about 95 million mobile phones, of which 32 million are compatible with 5G. About a year ago, these figures were around 15 million. I would like to especially mention that this number will increase even more after we switch to 5G.”

Minister Uraloğlu stated, “We aim to cover all of Turkey within 2 years. But in the first stage, we will start sending signals on April 1.”

LOCAL AND NATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES ARE BEING SUPPORTED

Minister Uraloğlu also expressed that they are striving to support local and national technology within the scope of 5G studies, saying, “In the first stage, we have tender conditions of 60% local products and 30% national communication products. We will also provide a contribution of approximately 3.5 billion dollars to the treasury within certain payment periods.”

10 TIMES FASTER

Uraloğlu also stated that a service 10 times faster will be offered with 5G technology, saying, “We will have more management capabilities in implementing smart transportation systems, train signaling, smart roads, and smart cities that concern our field. A surgeon in Turkey will have the opportunity to perform surgery on the other side of the world. There will be the possibility of remotely managing construction machinery.”
