University students protesting the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu organized a march to Saraçhane. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 6 police officers were injured during the students' protest demonstration in a statement regarding the events.
"OUR POLICE ARE ON DUTY FOR THE PEACE AND SECURITY OF OUR PEOPLE"
Yerlikaya stated in a message on his social media account: "6 of our police were injured in the protests held this evening in Saraçhane, Istanbul. Our heroic police, who are the guarantee of our country's peace and security, are responding to provocations with great foresight, patience, and common sense; they are demonstrating an exemplary stance on how social events should be managed. Our governor, our police chief, and our police are on duty for the peace and security of our people and will continue to be so. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured police officers."
