The Ministry of Trade has made a change in the decision to close hairdressers and beauty salons for one day a week. According to the new decision, women's hairdressers and beauty centers will be exempt from the Sunday closure decision.

With the decision of the Ministry of Trade, it was announced that beauty salons and hairdressers will be exempted from the practice of being closed on Sundays, which applies to barbers, beauty salons, and hairdressers.

HAIRDRESSERS AND BEAUTY CENTERS WERE REACTING

The Ministry of Trade had put a new decision into effect on July 1st for barbers, hairdressers, and beauty salons. With the new decision, all barbers, hairdressers, and beauty salons started closing one day a week. However, this decision started to put pressure on women hairdressers and beauty centers, especially because Sunday is a day off and people want to go to the salons.

MINISTRY TAKES A STEP BACK

After this decision received backlash, women hairdressers and beauty centers were exempted from the decision to be closed on Sundays. It is thought that the new decision was made in response to the demand from women hairdressers and beauty centers.

STATEMENT WAS MADE

The following statements were included in the statement made regarding the issue: "Taking into account the demands and suggestions conveyed to our Ministry by the sector stakeholders, which include the majority of barbers, hairdressers, and beauty salon operators, and the extensive participation of the sector, it has been decided that barbers, hairdressers, and beauty salons will be closed one day a week nationwide, and the implementation started as of July 1, 2024."

It has been observed that women hairdressers and beauty salons have not been able to benefit sufficiently from the exceptions determined for weddings, engagements, etc. on the days when they are closed since the implementation started, and as a result, difficulties have been experienced in consumers receiving services.

In addition, it has been evaluated that the tourism potential of the country can be limited by the closure of the relevant establishments, considering that the tourism season is experienced in different seasons in almost every region of our country. In this regard, it has been decided by our Ministry to exempt women hairdressers and beauty salons from the implementation of closing one day a week nationwide for barbers, hairdressers, and beauty salons starting from July 1, 2024."
