Following strong wind and storm warnings from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, swimming has been temporarily banned in 10 provinces in the Marmara and Black Sea regions. Due to dangerous rip currents and high wave heights, access to some beaches in Istanbul's Beykoz, Sarıyer, and Arnavutköy districts, as well as in Kocaeli, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and Samsun, has been restricted. As the storm risk shifts eastward, all beaches and coves in Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin will be completely closed.

Bad news came one after another from governorates and district governorships to citizens who were making weekend plans. Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, due to high wave height, strong winds, and dangerous rip currents that cause drowning incidents, swimming has been temporarily banned in many cities in the Marmara and Black Sea regions.

EASTERN BLACK SEA TO BE FULLY CLOSED ON SUNDAY

As the storm and wave risk shifts eastward, a red alert will be issued along the Black Sea coast on Sunday. The governorates of Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin announced that on Sunday, July 5, citizens will not be allowed to swim at any beach, cove, or shore within provincial borders. In Samsun, a ban was imposed for today.

Authorities stated that, to prevent potential drowning incidents and tragic accidents, vacationers must strictly adhere to the rules, and inspections by law enforcement will continue uninterrupted until sea conditions return to normal.

BAN IN 3 DISTRICTS OF ISTANBUL

In the megacity Istanbul, district governorships in Beykoz, Sarıyer, and Arnavutköy, which have coastlines on the Black Sea, stepped in. With the decision taken, swimming is completely banned in these three districts on both Saturday and Sunday, July 5, for safety reasons.

ALERT ISSUED IN KOCAELI AS WELL

In the Kandıra district of Kocaeli, which borders the Black Sea, swimming will not be allowed on all beaches for 2 days due to adverse weather conditions. According to a statement from the district governorship, unfavorable weather and sea conditions are affecting the district. Therefore, swimming is banned on all shores today and tomorrow. Citizens are asked to comply with the ban.

ACTION TAKEN IN 2 PROVINCES OF THRACE

Due to adverse weather, a ban was also announced in Kırklareli and Tekirdağ in Thrace. In the Demirköy district of Kırklareli, red flags were raised on the seashores, and entering the water was not allowed. In the Saray district of Tekirdağ, which borders the Black Sea, swimming is banned on all beaches for 2 days due to adverse weather conditions.
