The leader of the Homeland Party, Muharrem İnce, was prosecuted for 'insulting the President' in the Ankara 30th Heavy Penal Court due to his statements directed at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during an event held by his party in Balıkesir on January 7, 2018, when he was a CHP Yalova Member of Parliament. PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN DROPPED THE COMPLAINTWhile the legal process was ongoing, the petition of President Erdoğan's lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın, to join the case was accepted on April 11, 2022. Subsequently, Aydın submitted a petition to the court stating that they had withdrawn their complaints against İnce. During the hearing held on March 14, 2023, the presiding judge read the petition and postponed the case. A FINE OF 7 THOUSAND TL WAS IMPOSEDDuring the decision hearing of the case held today, the attorneys of both parties attended. The court panel stated that the case, which continued as a 'public lawsuit', had reached its conclusion, announcing that Muharrem İnce, the leader of the Homeland Party, was sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison for 'insulting the President', and that the sentence was converted to a judicial fine of 7 thousand TL.
