HIS MOTHER HAS PASSED AWAYThe 56-year-old artist announced on his social media platform X that his mother, Sıdıka Kekilli, has passed away. In his post, the artist stated, "Inna lillahi ve inna ileyhi raciun. Our mother Sıdıka Kekilli has returned to the mercy of God! May the fate of those who say 'God bless her' be good." Kekilli's followers shared their condolences in the comments. The singer's father, Mustafa Kekilli, passed away in 2019. WHO IS MURAT KEKİLLİ?Born on April 18, 1968, in Adana, Murat Kekilli completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Adana. Due to his family's poverty, living in the Kocavezir neighborhood, he worked in watermelon fields in Adana and Ceyhan during the holidays. He met the director of the youth palace in Adana and, while going back and forth to see him, he saw a friend playing the piano there and became fascinated, starting his music career with the piano. He went to the military for his compulsory service in 1989, returned in 1991, and began his active life. In 1992-1993, he passed the exams of the Adana State Conservatory; however, he left after about a year. In 1994, he came to Istanbul, worked in a group, and formed his first group, Kilikyalılar. In 1996, he worked with the group Yolcular and released the album "Eşek Gözlüm." Since this album did not reach the desired level, he parted ways with Ferdifon Music. Later, he signed with Boğaziçi Music and released his album "Bu Akşam Ölürüm" in 1999. This album created a huge impact. It was said that the song had a suicidal effect on individuals. For this reason, Reha Muhtar made critical remarks about Kekilli during a live broadcast. In February 2002, he released the album "Yedialtı" with Boğaziçi Music. Then, in 2004, he released the album "Avara" with Boğaziçi Music. In 2006, he released the album "Bir Ahir Zaman" with Boğaziçi Music. After a long break, he released the album "Kalbimdeki Darp" with Boğaziçi Music in 2010. A music video was shot for one of the tracks on the album. Murat Kekilli's new album "Gümüş Teller" was released in 2013.
