Billionaire businessman Elon Musk is preparing to take an active role in U.S. politics again. Following the tensions he experienced with Donald Trump, Musk, who has been said to distance himself from the Republican side, is reportedly ramping up his fundraising and organizational efforts ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
Technology billionaire Elon Musk has started to support the Republican camp again following his tensions with U.S. President Donald Trump. Musk's team is reportedly actively preparing for the midterm elections to be held in November.
PREPARATIONS FOR THE MIDTERMS HAVE BEGUN
According to sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the condition of anonymity, Musk's political team has begun working for the midterm elections scheduled for November.
DONATIONS WILL INCREASE THROUGH PAC
Musk is said to be planning to increase his donations to Republican candidates through the America PAC established for Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
The team's goal is to ensure that voters who supported Trump in the presidential election also go to the polls in the midterms.
CALL FOR SUPPORT FROM REPUBLICAN LEADERS
Sources report that senior Republican figures, including U.S. Vice President JD Vance, have reached out to Musk. In these contacts, Musk was asked to help maintain the Republican Party's majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
CLAIM OF A $10 BILLION DONATION
According to Axios's report on Monday, Musk made a $10 billion donation to support businessman Nate Morris for the seat that Republican Senator Mitch McConnell will vacate.
It was noted that the Tesla CEO made the largest donation to a Senate candidate to date through the Fight for Kentucky PAC.
VANCE CONNECTION DRAWS ATTENTION
WSJ's analysis emphasized that Nate Morris has close ties with JD Vance, and that the Fight for Kentucky PAC is managed by one of the senior advisors to the U.S. Vice President.
HAD SEPARATED FROM DOGE, EXPERIENCED TENSION WITH TRUMP
Musk, who came to the forefront with federal spending cuts during his tenure at the U.S. Government Efficiency Department (DOGE), announced in May that he had stepped down from his position following a decline in Tesla shares.
Relations between Musk and Trump had soured due to the White House's controversial tax cut proposal, and after mutual statements on social media, both parties later shared "friendship messages."
The analysis indicates that Musk has rejoined Trump's political campaign with his support for Republican candidates. This situation is interpreted as a "pragmatic alliance," with Trump likely to benefit from Musk's financial power and technical infrastructure, while Musk is expected to maintain his influence in Washington.
$42 MILLION DONATION
According to Federal Election Commission records, Elon Musk has donated approximately $42 million to Republican political campaigns since June of last year. It was noted that this figure does not include donations made to support Nate Morris.
