Mustafa Destici, the Chairman of the Great Unity Party, made striking statements regarding the agenda during his visit to Adana for the party's ordinary provincial congress. Speaking at the congress held at the Yaşar Kemal Cultural Center, Destici evaluated issues related to pension salaries, infrastructure problems, and the decline in population growth rate.
"PENSIONERS ARE THE BIGGEST VICTIMS"
Destici stated that in recent years, the biggest victimization has been experienced by pensioners, emphasizing that there is a serious injustice in salary increases. Reminding that the difference between the lowest pension and civil servant salaries in 2023 has grown, Destici said that this gap has widened even further at the current point.
Stating that while civil servant salaries have seen increases of up to 100% in recent years, pensioners have not been protected at the same rate, he said, "To restore justice, the lowest pension should be 40,000 TL."
"THE STATE MUST ACT LIKE A FATHER"
Expressing that the state should stand at an equal distance from all citizens, Destici stated that the rights of pensioners must be delivered. Saying, "The state is a father; it cannot victimize anyone," Destici emphasized that the rights of pensioners should be paid by finding resources.
INFRASTRUCTURE CRITICISM REGARDING THE FLOOD DISASTER IN ADANA
In his speech, Destici also touched upon the flood disaster experienced in the city, stating that there is a serious infrastructure problem in Adana. He noted that especially in the districts of Feke, Saimbeyli, Tufanbeyli, and Kozan, as well as in the city center, significant problems have arisen due to the recent rains, and he conveyed his best wishes to the citizens affected by the disaster.
Emphasizing that infrastructure is the responsibility of municipalities, Destici expressed that allegations of corruption in some municipalities in the past and present have caused disruptions in services. He stated that the investigations carried out by the judiciary during this process should be followed patiently.
"THE DECLINE IN POPULATION GROWTH IS A NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE"
Pointing out that birth rates in Turkey have significantly declined, Destici stated that the country is among the fastest-declining populations. He noted that the decrease in the number of children has reached alarming levels, arguing that this situation is not only a social issue but also a national security matter.
Claiming that the family institution is being targeted, Destici expressed that marriage is being devalued and that efforts are being made to weaken the social structure, stating that they will not remain silent against propaganda that contradicts the traditional family structure.
