Ankara has gone on high alert with extensive security measures ahead of the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit. More than 55,000 police personnel will be deployed for the summit, numerous roads will be closed to traffic, and passenger services at some metro stations will be suspended. Additionally, public employees in nine districts will be granted administrative leave from July 6-12, except for critical duties.
As Ankara prepares to host the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit, comprehensive security measures have been implemented across the capital. Over 55,000 police personnel will be deployed for the summit. Within the framework of security precautions, checks at entry and exit points of Ankara have been intensified.
BESTEPE AND AREAS WHERE LEADERS WILL STAY TO BE CLOSED During the summit, Bestepe, where the Presidential Complex is located, along with the surroundings of the hotels where leaders will stay and the roads providing access to these areas, will be closed to vehicle traffic. Temporary traffic restrictions will be imposed at certain times on the routes where leader convoys will pass.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR METRO AND ANKARAY Special arrangements have also been made for public transportation during the summit. Metro services will continue normally, but Söğütözü Metro Station will be closed to passenger intake throughout the summit.
On the Ankaray line, Bahçelievler Station will temporarily be out of service. The measures are planned to be lifted after the summit is completed and the leaders depart from Turkey.
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES IN 9 DISTRICTS GRANTED ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE Within the scope of security measures, public employees working in the districts of Altındağ, Çankaya, Etimesgut, Gölbaşı, Keçiören, Mamak, Pursaklar, Sincan, and Yenimahalle, except those serving in critical roles, will be considered on administrative leave between July 6-12.
NUMEROUS ROADS IN THE CAPITAL TO BE CLOSED TO TRAFFIC The Ankara Governor's Office has also announced the roads that will be closed during the summit. Cumhurbaşkanlığı Boulevard, Cumhurbaşkanlığı Street, Alparslan Türkeş Street, Beştepe Street, Söğütözü Street, Bahriye Üçok Street, the section of Şehit Öğretmen Şenay Aybüke Yalçın Street between İsmail Karakaya Street and Söğütözü Street, the part of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Street between Dumlupınar Boulevard and Çetin Emeç Boulevard, and the section of Sakıp Sabancı Boulevard between Beştepe Street and AŞTİ will be completely closed to vehicle traffic. Parking will not be allowed on these routes, and parked vehicles will be removed.
In the areas where leaders will stay, many streets and avenues will be closed to traffic from 07:00 on July 6 until 23:59 on July 8.
ROADS TO BE CLOSED IN YENİMAHALLE In the Yenimahalle district, all of 350th and 286th streets in Mehmet Akif Ersoy Neighborhood, 147th and 145th streets in Çamlıca Neighborhood along with the entrance road of Selçuk Ecza Depot facing Anadolu Boulevard, 171st, 172nd, and 173rd streets in Macun Neighborhood, Yaşam Street, Adalet Street, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th streets, and Nergiz Street in Beştepe Neighborhood will be closed to vehicle traffic.
EXTENSIVE RESTRICTIONS ALSO IN ÇANKAYA In the Çankaya district, Kişinev and Jose Marti streets along with 720th and 721st streets in Yıldızevler Neighborhood, Tahran, Arjantin, İran, Polonya, Güniz, and other connecting streets in Kavaklıdere Neighborhood, certain sections of Atatürk Boulevard, Ufuk University Street and 1443rd and 1452nd streets in Kızılırmak Neighborhood, 1377th, 1380th, and 1381st streets in Oğuzlar Neighborhood, 2168th, 2169th, and 2170th streets in Söğütözü Neighborhood, and all roads within Bilkent Campus in Üniversiteler Neighborhood may be temporarily closed if needed.
Additionally, certain sections of the Ankara Ring Road, Özal Boulevard, İsmet İnönü Boulevard, Ankara Boulevard, Anadolu Boulevard, some parts of Atatürk Boulevard, Mevlana Boulevard, Dumlupınar Boulevard, 1071 Malazgirt Boulevard, Türk Kızılayı Street, Cinnah Street, Çankaya Street, Simon Bolivar Street, Rabindranath Tagore Street, and John F. Kennedy Street will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic only during the passage of leader convoys. Parking will not be allowed on these routes either, and parked vehicles will be towed.
