General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, visited a large ammunition factory under the Second Economic Commission. Accompanied by members of the Workers' Party Central Military Commission and officials from the party's central committee, Kim received information about the production processes at the factory.

PRODUCTION OF THE NEW TYPE PISTOL HAS STARTED

During the visit, Kim Jong Un was informed that the production of the new type pistol, which was approved for design by the Workers' Party Central Military Commission on February 19, 2025, has begun. Touring the factory, Kim Jong Un noted that the facility plays a significant role in the production of pistols and portable light weapons.

Emphasizing that the production capacity should be expanded with long-term plans, Kim Jong Un issued instructions to accelerate the modernization of production lines and to raise quality standards in production. He also stated that the level of technical equipment in the ammunition industry should be increased, quality control mechanisms should be strengthened, and production processes should be carried out in a planned manner.

Kim Jong Un also highlighted the importance of upgrading the production and working conditions in ammunition factories to more advanced standards. During the factory visit, Kim Jong Un went to the shooting range at the facility and examined the performance of the new generation pistol that has entered production. Referring to reports from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, Kim expressed his satisfaction, stating that the weapon possesses superior qualities in terms of structural features, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.

Furthermore, Kim Jong Un shared his views on establishing a new production line at the factory as part of a five-year plan aimed at developing the country's defense industry, stating that this process should serve as a model in terms of modernization.

It was reported that during the upcoming expanded Central Military Commission meeting in April, discussions would be held regarding the modernization of ammunition factories and the budget proposal for the urgent modernization of three major ammunition industry facilities. At the end of the visit, Kim Jong Un thanked the factory managers, technicians, and workers involved in the development and production of the new pistol.
