The claim that terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan said "There will be a coup against Bahçeli" has created a stir. The DEM delegation shared Öcalan's new message after their visit to Imralı yesterday. In the message, it was stated, "Öcalan drew attention to the coup mechanism encountered in all solution processes. He emphasized that this should not be understood as a classic coup attempt, but rather as an effort to create a fragile and dangerous environment by making a move against every step aimed at advancing the process."
Pervin Buldan, Mithat Sancar, and Özgür Faik Erol, comprising the DEM Party Imralı Delegation, made a statement regarding their visit to Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı on December 2, 2025. The statement also noted that the "positive effects and results" of the TBMM Commission meeting held last week were mutually evaluated.
The written statement of the DEM Party Imralı Delegation is as follows:
"On December 2, 2025, we had a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan that lasted nearly four hours. The positive effects and results of the TBMM Commission meeting that took place last week were mutually evaluated.
"ÖCALAN DRAW ATTENTION TO THE MECHANICS OF COUP"
Mr. Öcalan recalled the sabotage attempts developed against past resolution initiatives regarding the recently intensified anti-process rhetoric and outbursts. He pointed out that a recurring situation in all these processes highlighted the mechanics of a coup as a habitus. He emphasized that this should not be understood as a classic coup attempt, but rather as an effort to create a fragile and dangerous environment by making a move against every step aimed at advancing the process.
EMPHASIS ON THE PEACE LAW
"Currently, the carriers of non-normative powers are these circles. On the other hand, a political and social will to overcome the coup tradition, which has marked the first century of Turkey, characterized by a culture, a style of politics, and a form of organization that is both secret and open, is also strengthening," he stated:
"With the realization of an original and comprehensive law-based peace law during this transitional period, the phenomena of political violence and non-democratic intervention will be removed from Turkey's agenda. We can also call this the law of transition to the century of peace. Our statement on February 27 is a guiding program in this regard. All steps taken in this direction are clear expressions of our responsibility and our goal of living together as brothers on this land.
"Every political and social group that wants to use the opportunity of governance and power correctly in Turkey must approach political issues consistently and participate in democratic solutions. This process is about ensuring the participation of Kurds in the republic through legal means and building a democratic republic with the broadest social unity. I would like to reiterate that we have a strong will and a determined stance towards the ongoing process in this direction."
BAHÇELİ HAD CALLED THE COUP CLAIM "NONSENSE"
On the other hand, former AK Party Deputy Şamil Tayyar claimed that Öcalan said, "If it fails, a coup will be made against Devlet Bey within the MHP." MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in his statement, expressed that he did not take the "coup" rhetoric seriously. Bahçeli stated, "It is said that a coup will be made against me from within the MHP. No coup can emerge from the democracy-loving Nationalist Movement. All of these are nonsense."
