North Korea responded first to the accidental bombing of a residential area by South Korean warplanes, stating, "There is no need to predict how the situation would develop if the bombs had crossed our border. This incident is not an action aimed at ensuring peace and stability in Korea and the region, as claimed by the United States, but rather dangerous activities that could lead to the world's first nuclear war."
North Korea has responded for the first time to the incident in which two KF-16 fighter jets belonging to the South Korean army accidentally bombed a residential area. In a statement published by the official North Korean press, it was reminded that the incident occurred during a joint military exercise conducted by the United States and South Korea, stating, "Two fighter jets belonging to the puppet state carried out an unprecedented simultaneous bombing targeting a civilian village during a large-scale live-fire exercise conducted in cooperation with the United States." The statement emphasized that the incident proved how dangerous the joint exercises conducted by the United States and South Korea in the region are, saying, "There is no need to speculate on how the situation would have developed if the bombs had been dropped a little further north and crossed our border."
"A RANDOM SPARK CAN LEAD TO CONFLICT"
In the statement, it was argued that the joint exercises conducted by the United States and South Korea in a ceasefire zone where nuclear weapons are present increase the risk of war, warning that "the thought that a random spark could drag the Korean Peninsula, the region, and the world into a new armed conflict is by no means unreasonable." The statement claimed that the incident highlighted the existence of a potential nuclear war risk, stating, "This event has shown that the exercises of the United States and its allies are not actions aimed at ensuring peace and stability in Korea and the region as claimed, but rather dangerous activities that could lead to the world's first nuclear war."
"WE WILL ACT WITHOUT MERCY"
In the statement, it was asserted that as long as the military exercises of the United States and South Korea continue on the Korean Peninsula, the threat to the peace and security of North Korea and the region will never be eliminated, warning, "We are closely monitoring the enemy's military maneuvers. We will act without mercy without warning of an unexpected development. At that time, there will be no room for excuses." The statement called on the United States and South Korea to stop their military exercises, saying, "The United States and South Korea must take seriously the extremely dangerous signs of their joint military exercises and immediately halt the nuclear war show that is the cause of the deteriorating situation on the Korean Peninsula."
FIGHTER JETS BOMBED A RESIDENTIAL AREA
Two KF-16 fighter jets belonging to the South Korean army accidentally dropped 8 MK-82 type bombs on a rural residential area in Pocheon during a joint exercise with the United States. As a result of the incident, at least 29 people were injured, and many buildings were damaged.
