After the words of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, "If necessary, I will go to İmralı," the eyes turned to the Process Commission, where a historic decision was made. The Commission, which decided to go to İmralı by a majority vote, saw the AK Party, MHP, DEM Party, TİP, and EMEP voting 'yes,' while DSP, HÜDA-PAR, and the Democratic Party voted 'no.' HÜDA-PAR's decision drew attention.
The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission meeting lasted approximately 2.5 hours; a vote was held on the 'Imralı visit'.
In the vote, which was not attended by the CHP and the New Welfare Party; the AK Party, MHP, DEM Party, TİP, and EMEP voted 'yes', while DSP, HÜDA-PAR, and the Democratic Party voted 'no'. The New Path Group abstained. The vote resulted in 32 yes votes, 3 no votes, and 2 members abstaining. Thus, the commission decided to go to Imralı. The commission meeting ended after the vote.
"POLITICAL PARTIES WITH GROUPS WILL BE ON THE VISIT"
After the meeting, DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit made evaluations, stating, "May it be beneficial. We voted for the trip to the island, and the 'yes' vote was given and accepted. I hope it contributes to our country and our peace. The decision made by the CHP will be evaluated later by our Co-Chairs. Political parties with groups will be on the visit. The date of the visit is not clear yet; preparations are being made. By tomorrow, all political parties will specify their names to the Speaker of the Assembly. After that, a travel plan will be made," she said.
"WE DO NOT FIND IT APPROPRIATE TO GIVE A MEMBER TO THE COMMISSION DELEGATION"
On the other hand, CHP Group Deputy Chair Murat Emir, who spoke at the meeting, stated, "It is important to manage a process that is easier, more participatory, and less controversial by utilizing technological means instead of just 5 members of parliament going to the island without even having a chair in the commission. Society has not taken even the essential and easy first steps, such as the removal of trustees, the implementation of the Constitutional Court (AYM) and European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decisions, and the opening of democratic politics. What contribution will this insistence make to the will for a solution? We do not find it appropriate to give a member from our party to the commission delegation that will go to Imralı Island, especially with the decision of the AK Party and other parties," he said.
CHP MEMBERS LEFT THE HALL
Subsequently, Speaker of the Assembly Numan Kurtulmuş presented the issue of whether the meeting would be held in a closed session to the votes of the members of parliament. As a result of the 'Yes' votes from the AK Party, MHP, and DEM Party members, it was decided that the meeting would continue in a closed manner. CHP members decided not to participate in the closed session and left the hall.
