In the operation carried out within the scope of this work, a total of 8,150 tons of glucose, fructose, and sugar were seized, including 100,000 honey labels belonging to various brands, 3,650 tons of glucose syrup, 2,500 tons of fructose syrup, and 2,000 tons of sugar, with a market value of approximately 960 million lira. An investigation has been initiated against 6 suspects who were caught in connection with the matter. STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR OF ANKARAAnkara Governor Vasip Şahin stated in a press release regarding the operation that the fight against adulterated, spoiled, or altered food in Ankara continues unabated. Şahin expressed that a comprehensive investigation was conducted based on information received by the authorities that spoiled honey or fake honey was being produced in the mentioned factory, stating, "As a result of this investigation, hundreds of tons of spoiled food or products that are actually prohibited for use but were used in the production of spoiled honey were seized here and in other establishments." Şahin mentioned that judicial and administrative proceedings are ongoing regarding the matter and stated that the seized materials would be destroyed. Şahin expressed that they want citizens and sellers to examine their materials carefully, saying, "Please pay attention to whether the product you purchase is original and safe for food. As customers, our citizens should not fall into a trap by being deceived by prices. For their own health, the health of their families, and the health of their children, let’s be careful." Şahin stated that they must continue the struggle without getting tired, emphasizing that the inspection of food products that citizens consume, relying on the state, will be carried out more strictly, and added: "Our effort is to ensure that our citizens can consume the goods they buy from the market, grocery store, or other food and beverage services with peace of mind. We stand by our well-intentioned producers, traders, and tradesmen until the end. Our fight against those who exploit the need for healthy food consumption of citizens, their children, the elderly, and the sick by selling harmful products will continue until the end."
