In operations targeting FETÖ across 42 provinces, 169 suspects were detained. One of these individuals, who was wanted for being a user of the encrypted messaging app "ByLock" and whose name appeared in statements and identifications, was caught in a hidden compartment behind a wardrobe during a police operation.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 169 suspects were detained in operations against FETÖ conducted in 42 provinces. Minister Yerlikaya stated in a post on his social media account that operations were carried out in 42 provinces against FETÖ as a result of the work done by provincial police departments' anti-terrorism branches, coordinated with the chief public prosecutors' offices and the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Terrorism Department and Intelligence Department.
169 SUSPECTS DETAINED
Within the scope of the operations, it was reported that 169 suspects were detained for crimes such as being users of the organization's encrypted messaging program "ByLock," being in contact with responsible individuals within the organization via payphones, conducting propaganda for the organization through social media platforms, being coded as advantageous in interviews within the scope of individual exam investigations, and having finalized prison sentences and arrest warrants against them, as well as being involved in the "current structure, financial structure, student structure, security confidential structure, military confidential structure" of the FETÖ terrorist organization and operating within various professional groups.
Yerlikaya noted that unlicensed handguns and rifles, a large amount of foreign currency and Turkish Lira, as well as numerous documents and digital materials were seized, and he congratulated the governors, the chief public prosecutors coordinating the operations, and the police who carried out the operations.
