In the Istanbul-based operation targeting the secret structure of FETÖ within the police, 11 out of 21 suspects taken into custody were arrested. Meanwhile, 7 of the suspects were released from the police after providing statements under the effective remorse provisions.
The operation conducted against the secret structure of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) within the police, centered in Istanbul and involving 14 provinces, resulted in the arrest of 11 out of 21 suspects.
As part of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding FETÖ's secret structure within the police, the police procedures for 21 suspects, 13 of whom are active police personnel, have been completed.
7 PEOPLE BENEFITED FROM EFFECTIVE REMORSE
Of the suspects, 7 were released from the police after giving statements under the provisions of "effective remorse." 14 suspects, who underwent a health check, were taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
11 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED
Of the suspects whose procedures at the prosecutor's office were completed, 10 are active police personnel, and 13 were referred to the duty magistrate with a request for arrest, while 1 was requested to be placed under "house arrest" as a judicial control measure. The magistrate decided to arrest 11 suspects, 10 of whom are active police personnel.
For 3 suspects, including 1 under "house arrest," it was decided to apply judicial control measures.
WHAT HAPPENED?
As part of the investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that 21 suspects were active in the secret structure of FETÖ/PDY within the police at the Arnavutköy Police Vocational Training Center and the Şükrü Balcı Police Vocational School.
Simultaneous operations were carried out by police teams in Istanbul, Ankara, Aydın, Antalya, Balıkesir, Batman, Erzincan, Gaziantep, İzmir, Kahramanmaraş, Mardin, Muğla, Samsun, and Sivas.
In the operation, 13 active police personnel, 6 dismissed police personnel, and 2 so-called secret imams of the police were taken into custody.
