Eighteen people were detained as part of an investigation launched into allegations of irregularities and fraud in the tenders of the Döşemealtı Municipality in Antalya. Two suspects, including former Mayor Turgay Genç, were arrested, and it was determined that the public damage exceeded 125 million lira.
In the investigation launched regarding allegations of irregularities and forgery of official documents in tenders related to the Döşemealtı Municipality of Antalya, 2 suspects, including former Mayor Turgay Genç, were arrested during a simultaneous operation in which 18 suspects were detained.
1 PERSON AT LARGE
The Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation based on allegations that irregularities occurred in some tenders of the Döşemealtı Municipality and that forgery of official documents was carried out. While examining municipal operations within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the public suffered a loss exceeding 125 million lira. In line with the investigation, detention orders were issued for former Döşemealtı Mayor Turgay Genç, along with 2 former deputy mayors, 5 municipal council members, 8 municipal staff, and 6 contractor company employees. Police teams conducted a simultaneous operation to capture the suspects. While searches were conducted at the identified addresses, 18 suspects, including Turgay Genç, were detained. It was reported that 1 suspect is in prison, 2 suspects are abroad, and efforts are ongoing to capture 1 fugitive suspect.
3 SUSPECTS RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were brought to the courthouse today. It was learned that the statement of 1 person in prison would be taken on Monday. After the prosecutor's interrogations, 13 suspects were released. 5 suspects were referred to the Duty Peace Criminal Court with a request for arrest. While the court ordered the arrest of former Döşemealtı Mayor Turgay Genç and Ali Altun, 3 suspects were released under judicial control.
