The first operation against criminal organizations was carried out following the appointment of the new Minister of Interior, Mustafa Çiftçi. In operations organized by the gendarmerie targeting 15 organized crime groups in 12 provinces, 109 suspects were apprehended, with 438 million TL in account activity found in their accounts. Of the suspects, 61 were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 38. The proceedings for the others are ongoing.
Operations were carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in coordination with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the General Command of Gendarmerie Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime and Cyber Crime Departments against 15 separate organized crime groups in 12 provinces.
109 PEOPLE ARRESTED
In Aydın; for usury and human smuggling, in Gaziantep; for human trafficking and qualified fraud, in Diyarbakır; for organized qualified theft, in Kırklareli, Manisa, and Van; for human smuggling, in İzmir; for qualified fraud, in Bolu, Şanlıurfa, and Denizli; for usury, and in Antalya and Ankara; operations were conducted against suspects identified as engaging in organized drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of 109 suspects with 438 million TL of activity in their accounts.
61 PEOPLE DETAINED
Of the suspects identified as committing the crimes of human smuggling, usury, drug trafficking, qualified theft, and human trafficking; 61 were detained, and judicial control measures were applied to 38. The proceedings for the others are ongoing.
ASSETS SEIZED
As a result of the examination by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), a large number of movable and immovable properties belonging to suspects who committed the crime of "money laundering from criminal activities" in an organized manner were seized.
