Twenty-one employees of İZBETON, a subsidiary of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, were detained for being falsely represented as working at a cooperative where an urban transformation contract was signed, and their insurance was arranged. It was determined that the suspects were shown as being employed by İZBETON and received salary and bonus payments. The mentioned amounts were found to be between 170,000 and 200,000 TL per person.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an examination was carried out by experts on the contract signed between İZBETON, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, and the S.S Business People Örnekköy Housing Construction Cooperative in the urban transformation project.
21 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Investigations revealed that the insurance premiums of 23 İZBETON employees were falsely reported as if they had worked in the Örnekköy 4th phase. Following this, a detention order was issued for 23 suspects. In the operation organized by the police, 21 suspects were taken into custody. It was reported that efforts are ongoing to capture the other 2 suspects.
DETAILS EMERGED
The details of the operation have emerged. It was learned that the suspects were detained on charges of qualified fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations, and that cooperative managers were detained for qualified fraud during the commercial activities of traders or company executives acting on behalf of the company.
200 THOUSAND TL SALARY PAID PER PERSON
It was determined that despite İZBETON transferring its construction work to the cooperative in 2022, the suspects were falsely reported as being employed by İZBETON, and salary and premium payments were made. It was also found that the amounts in question ranged from 170 thousand to 200 thousand lira per person.
