'Our Aim To Raise Welfare Of 84 Million Turkish People'

We will endeavor to do everything to increase Turkey's exports, country's new trade minister says.

Turkey's new trade minister said on Wednesday they have only one aim that is to raise the welfare of 84 million people.

"We will endeavor to do everything to expand [the volume of] Turkey's exports, economic size, and raise the level of welfare," Mehmet Mus told the reporters in the parliament.

He had been informed before he was appointed, Mus noted, adding: "Our president [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] had shared it with me."

Mus will take his oath in the parliament on Wednesday at 2 p.m. local time (1100GMT).

He holds an undergraduate degree in business from Turkey's Akdeniz University, a postgraduate degree in economics from Washington State University in the US, and a doctoral degree from Turkey's Marmara University in economic history.

Mus has been a member of the parliament for the last four terms. -
