The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, made a controversial statement regarding Syria during a television program. Özel stated, "A language of hatred is being produced that labels all Kurds in Syria as terrorists. The understanding that no one lives outside of the YPG is unacceptable. Borders cannot divide brotherhood; this country cannot be governed with a politics of hatred."
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements that will create a debate regarding the government's Syria policy on Karar TV. Özel claimed that all Kurds in Syria have been declared terrorists.
ÖZEL'S "SYRIA" OUTBURST
Emphasizing the ties between the peoples on both sides of the border, Özel stated, "Borders cannot separate brotherhood; this country cannot be governed by politics of hatred."
"THERE ARE THOSE WHO SEE ALL KURDS IN SYRIA AS TERRORISTS"
Özel said: "Until yesterday, there was a process that was quietly followed, and suddenly there was a Kurdish enmity. Over 2 million Kurds live in Syria... There is a perspective that only YPG members live in Syria. There are those in some circles of the government who see all Kurds in Syria as terrorists. This is so hurtful."

I see myself as a relative of the Turkmen in Syria as a Turk. If I am related to the Kurds in Turkey, I am also related to the Kurds in Syria. Because throughout history, the way the border was drawn does not hinder brotherhood."
