Özgür Özel's statement on 'Imralı': We will be neither obstructive nor disruptive.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who went to Ardahan for a series of meetings, visited Mayor Gökhan Budak at Göle Municipality after Posof Municipality. Before the visit, Özel addressed the citizens gathered in front of the municipality building and evaluated the meeting of the DEM Party's 'Imralı' delegation with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

Özel stated: "Recently in Turkey, there is a process that started with Bahçeli's call, who until yesterday was saying 'they are becoming DEM' while we were meeting with the legitimate political party in the Parliament. The CHP has never been on the side of conflict, blood, or tears at any time in its history. We wanted mothers not to cry, we wanted terrorism to stop, and tears to cease. We said, 'Do this in the Parliament,' but they missed the opportunity back then. Now they say, 'Yes, the Parliament is the right ground.'

"CHP WILL PROTECT ITS LINE AND STRUCTURE"

We also say that; it will be on the ground of the Parliament, it will be transparent, and in a process based on social consensus, the CHP will always say peace at home, peace in the world, following Atatürk's path. We defend the will to live together that respects the founding values of the CHP, which observes the borders of the National Pact and embraces the star and crescent flag. Kurds are ours, Turks are ours. Alevis are ours, Sunnis are ours. We are all brothers, and we will live together in brotherhood and peace. In the future process, the CHP will protect its line and structure. No one should worry. We will neither block nor disrupt. But no one should take offense; we will not be part of any political party's plan. The CHP looks at this issue in terms of social consensus, not as a matter of personal interest or a matter of re-election. It will never allow such an issue to be used as a personal interest matter or a re-election matter."
