The Ministry of Trade imposed an administrative fine of 1 million 200 thousand lira on a company that was found to have published advertisements without identity verification on two separate advertisement platforms within the scope of the Electronic Advertisement Verification System (EAVS) initiated for rental real estate listings in the first phase.

OBLIGATION COVERS VEHICLE AND REAL ESTATE ADVERTISEMENTS

The Ministry had imposed an obligation for identity and authority verification on advertisement platforms where real estate and vehicle advertisements are published, with the aim of establishing a fair, competitive, and stable market structure in the real estate and automotive sectors, ensuring quality service delivery in the sector, and preventing consumer grievances. The system was activated as mandatory for rental real estate advertisements in the first phase starting from January 1. With the implementation, individuals who do not verify their identity information are prevented from posting advertisements through real estate portals. In the inspections conducted by the Ministry teams in the first phase of the system, a company that was found to have published advertisements in violation of the regulation was fined 1 million 200 thousand lira on two separate advertisement platforms.

"OBLIGATION FOR SALE OF COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES WILL BEGIN"

The transition to the second phase of the system is planned for April 7. From this date, the authority verification application will also become mandatory for advertisements of commercial properties for sale. In the following process, authority verification will also be mandatory for other real estate advertisements for sale. The authority verification application has also started for second-hand vehicle advertisements, but a transition period was foreseen until April 7. As of April 7, a phased transition process will be applied for vehicle advertisements according to the model year. In the first phase, authority verification will be mandatory for advertisements with a model year of 2023 and above. As of June 2, authority verification will become mandatory for all vehicle advertisements. With this application, it is aimed to prevent fake advertisements, advertisement pollution, speculative price increases, and consumer grievances in the real estate and second-hand vehicle sectors. The regulation will also prevent businesses that do not obtain an authorization certificate from the Ministry from posting advertisements, as well as unauthorized and unregistered real estate and dealership activities.
