The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, provided examples from Turkish proverbs for solving problems during his visit to Khuzestan as part of his provincial tours.
According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian attended the groundbreaking ceremony of a school in Khuzestan, where a predominantly Arab population resides. The President was seen wearing work overalls and carrying mortar for a bricklayer during the ceremony in the city of Ahvaz, which was captured on camera.
ATTENDED A PANEL ON EDUCATION
Pezeshkian later met with officials and local people at a panel on education. In his speech here, Pezeshkian stated that in order to find solutions to the problems in the country, they must first believe in what they can do. Emphasizing that education is important for progress and development, Pezeshkian expressed that building a school building does not mean that good education is being provided.
Pezeshkian noted that good education is essential for the development and advancement of new generations, saying, "Only then can the country be built. (Well-educated) People can build the country, not just the money at hand." Stating that they have natural riches, Pezeshkian said, "We have water, oil, and gas under our feet, but we have a problem. Our problem is the lack of those people. If we had those people, we wouldn't need anything under our feet." Pezeshkian expressed that countries that progress and succeed without underground wealth achieve this through the blessings of education and knowledge.
GAVE EXAMPLES WITH TURKISH PROVERBS
Pezeshkian, who is of Iranian Turkish descent and continued his speech with a Turkish proverb, used the following expressions:
"There is a saying in Turkish, 'If the son is aware, what does the grandfather do with his wealth? If the son is unaware, what does the grandfather do with his wealth?' If he is smart, he can do what he wants and possess what he desires. If he is foolish, he will scatter what he has. We must provide awareness and knowledge to our children and future generations."
Pezeshkian also emphasized that problems can be solved through unity and solidarity, again citing a Turkish saying, "We say in Turkish, 'The strength of the province is the strength of the flood.' When united, just as the flood can be stopped, there will be no obstacles in front of us." he stated.
Pezeshkian, who said, "When I ran for the presidency, I did not give any numbers, I did not say I would do these things if elected," expressed that instead of constantly talking and later failing to implement slogans, we need to dedicate time to solving problems. "Then people will say these are just like everyone else, throwing slogans and leaving." he added.
Recalling that he said, "I will not lie" throughout the election process, Pezeshkian stated that he invited all responsible parties and the public to the field to solve problems together.
