A drug operation conducted by the police in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has gone down in history as the country's bloodiest operation. OPERATION CARRIED OUT WITH 2,500 POLICE
Rio de Janeiro State Governor Claudio Castro stated in a statement that an operation was carried out with 2,500 police officers assigned to stop the spread of the criminal organization known as "Comando Vermelho" in the region. Castro noted that security forces, supported by 32 armored vehicles, entered the Alemão and Penha areas located in the north of Rio de Janeiro. He also warned local residents not to leave their homes during the operation.
OPERATION HAD BEEN PLANNED FOR 2 MONTHS
It was stated that the planning of the operation had been ongoing for 2 months, and it was noted that they waited for the right time to carry out the attack.
PROTEST DEMONSTRATIONS WERE HELD

The most recent and deadliest drug operation in Brazilian history occurred in 2021, resulting in the deaths of 28 people in Jacarezinho. In 1992, 111 inmates lost their lives in São Paulo.
