The residents of Emendere Neighborhood welcomed the return of the spring, which has once again provided "life-giving water" to their gardens, with joy.
In the Emendere neighborhood of the Sındırgı district in Balıkesir, a water source that had been used to irrigate the region's fruit and vegetable gardens for many years dried up 20 years ago. However, the 6.1 magnitude earthquake centered in Sındırgı on August 10 and the subsequent aftershocks revived the spring that had been silent for years.
The water, flowing more abundantly than before, began to spread to the surrounding area by creating new beds. The neighborhood residents welcomed the return of the spring, which was the subject of their childhood memories, with joy.
"THANK GOD OUR WATER HAS RETURNED"
Ismet Akgül, a 65-year-old resident of the neighborhood, stated that the return of the water has revitalized the gardens that had been dry for years, saying, "Thank God our water has come. We now have enough water for our gardens. It dried up 20 years ago, and now it has come back with the earthquake. It is the work of God; it has returned again with these earthquakes."
"IT FLOWS STRONGER THAN BEFORE"
İsmail Koç, another resident of the neighborhood, noted that the water flowing again is more abundant than before, stating, "It may stop again, or it may not, but it is flowing from the old source and stronger. This time we hope it will be permanent."
IF THE WATER CONTINUES TO FLOW...
The local people expressed that they would start planting vineyards and gardens again if the flow of water continues.
