10.07.2024 11:31

CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut announced that the request of his party's leader Özgür Özel to visit Syria and meet with Bashar al-Assad has been accepted by the Damascus government. Bulut stated, "From now on, we will only discuss the maturity of the conditions, where the meeting will take place, and the date."

CHP's Burhanettin Bulut spoke for the first time about CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's visit to Syria on the program called "Yeni Bir Sabah" hosted by Gözde Şeker on Halk TV and said that Özel will go to Damascus.

"ÖZEL WILL GO TO SYRIA FOR A SOLUTION"

Bulut, referring to the Syrian refugee crisis created by the AK Party government and the Süleyman Şah Tomb in Turkey's sphere of influence in Syria, said that Özel will go to the country for a solution.

"POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM DAMASCUS"

Bulut stated that they contacted the Damascus administration and received a positive response regarding the visit, saying, "The solution to these issues regarding the intention of the meeting has found a response. From now on, only the maturity of the conditions, where and when the meeting will take place, will be discussed. We conveyed our request for a meeting and received a positive response from Damascus."

"I CAN CONVINCE ASSAD TO SIT AT THE TABLE"

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in a statement, expressed that he could be a mediator between Erdoğan and Assad and said, "First, Assad should be convinced to sit at the table with Turkey. I can convince Assad to sit at the table. As long as Erdoğan has such an intention. We see from Erdoğan's recent statement that the steps we take here also encourage Erdoğan. This issue is Turkey's most urgent problem, our priority issue is the refugee problem," he said.

ERDOĞAN'S MESSAGE: "I WILL ALWAYS EXTEND AN INVITATION"

President Tayyip Erdoğan had previously stated that he would always extend an invitation for possible talks between Turkey and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to restart relations between the two neighboring countries.
