ERDOGAN: MY CAIRO VISIT WAS A TURNING POINTAfter the signing of the agreements, the two leaders held a joint press conference. President Erdogan stated the following in his speech: "First of all, I would like to express my pleasure in hosting President Abdulfettah es-Sisi in our country. On behalf of myself and my nation, I would like to say welcome. President Sisi showed great interest and warmly welcomed us during my visit to Cairo in February. My visit to Cairo was a turning point in our relations. Since that day, we have kept our dialogue and cooperation at the highest level. We have always been in close consultation on regional issues. With the return visit of my esteemed brother, we are taking our developing cooperation in all fields to a higher level." "WE CONTINUOUSLY STRENGTHEN THE RELATIONS BETWEEN OUR COUNTRIES"We have a shared history and close friendship with Egypt that spans centuries. Next year, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations. We are two ancient countries that have been the cradle of civilizations that have shaped human history. We continuously strengthen the deep and multi-dimensional relations between our countries through our joint efforts. We are also pleased to see the fruits of our work. "WE WELCOME EGYPTIAN INVESTORS TO TURKEY"In our meeting with President Sisi in Cairo, we decided to restructure our High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. We held the first meeting of this mechanism today. With our joint statement, we reaffirmed our determination to advance our cooperation in various fields, including industry, trade, defense, health, environment, and energy. Trade and economic cooperation constitute the strongest dimension of our cooperation. We continue to be among Egypt's top 5 trading partners in the last 10 years. We are determined to increase our trade volume to $15 billion within the next 5 years. Our businesspeople contribute significantly to the Egyptian economy with their investments, which have reached nearly $3 billion. We encourage our entrepreneurs to increase their investments further and we welcome Egyptian investors to Turkey. We are eager to enhance our cooperation with Egypt in the field of energy, particularly natural gas and nuclear energy. The Egyptian people show great interest in Turkish culture and the Turkish language. We continue our efforts to strengthen our cultural and human bridges. I believe that the positive momentum in our relations will also reflect on the tourism sector. The contributions of Turkey and Egypt to regional peace and stability are of vital importance. We have agreed to establish regular consultations on the resolution of regional issues, particularly Gaza. Given the current situation in Palestine, our discussions have focused on this issue. Turkey and Egypt share a common stance on the Palestinian issue. Ending the ongoing genocide, establishing a permanent ceasefire, and ensuring unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid remain our priorities. 32% of the total aid sent to Gaza so far has come from Turkey. I would like to thank the Egyptian authorities, especially the Egyptian Red Crescent, for their cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent and AFAD in delivering this aid. "ISRAEL AND ITS SUPPORTERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY INNOCENT PERSON'S DEATH"Israel continues to commit crimes by preventing humanitarian aid from reaching those in need. The Israeli government is trying to break the resistance of the Palestinian people by condemning them to hunger, thirst, and lack of medicine. Israel and its supporters are responsible for the death of every innocent person due to hunger, thirst, or lack of medicine. As you know, we are engaged in negotiations with Egypt, Qatar, and the United States as mediators. We also support this process through our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Intelligence Organization. However, Israel's uncompromising and obstructive attitude persists. Most recently, Israel has shown its mentality by assassinating its negotiating counterpart. I want to make it clear here that we reject Netanyahu's accusations against Egypt. "WE MUST TURN AWAY FROM THE WRONG PATH"In the face of all this, we have done and continue to do our best to increase pressure on the Israeli government. We have officially applied to intervene in the genocide case opened by the Republic of South Africa at the International Court of Justice. We are also intensively working to ensure that Israeli officials who commit crimes in Gaza are held accountable in international courts. As I have said before, the killers of 41,000 innocent people belong in courtrooms where they are held accountable for their crimes, not in parliamentary podiums. On the other hand, we continue to remind the international community of its responsibility. Unfortunately, some countries still support Israel unconditionally, becoming complicit in the crimes committed. The Netanyahu government does not take deterrent steps to stop its policy of massacre, which endangers not only the region but also the whole world. Everyone should understand the unacceptability of such a disturbing situation that hurts consciences. Preventing Israel from further escalating tensions in our region will only be possible by abandoning hypocritical policies. I once again call for a quick turnaround from the wrong path and for taking a place on the right side of history. In our consultations, we also discussed regional issues, including Eastern Mediterranean, Syria, Libya, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa. We are determined to strengthen our consultations with Egypt, with whom we share similar attitudes and goals on many issues. Hopefully, we will have closer cooperation from now on. We will advance our multidimensional relations with a win-win approach. I wish that today's meetings and the signed agreements will bring good results. I thank the President and his esteemed delegation for their visit. " Here are the highlights from President Sisi's speech: "First of all, I would like to express my sincere thanks for the warm hospitality shown to me. This visit is a clear indication of the further development of the longstanding relations between our two countries. Undoubtedly, we have many common grounds that bring us together. We have seen increased communication between the Turkish and Egyptian people, especially in the field of tourism. We also see that this cooperation has further increased with the growing Turkish investments in our country. President Erdogan's visit in February has given a new momentum to these relations. We have decided to take joint steps in various fields such as trade, tourism, and agriculture. Increasing bilateral trade, improving the free trade agreement, and realizing the mutual trade volume are among our common goals. The opportunities we offer to Turkish investors are also important to us. "WE ARE MAKING EVERY EFFORT TO ENSURE HUMANITARIAN AID REACHES GAZA"In the context of Turkey-Egypt relations, we emphasized the importance of coordination between our two countries. We have decided to work together to prevent humanitarian crises. We should intensify our efforts, especially for our brothers and sisters in Palestine and Gaza. We have emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the occupation in the West Bank, and the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. We are making every effort to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches Gaza. "WE WELCOME THE CLOSER TIES BETWEEN TURKEY AND SYRIA"We also discussed security and stability issues. We welcome the rapprochement between Turkey and Syria. We expressed that both presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya, ensuring security there, and the withdrawal of armed forces from the country are important for Libya. We discussed the issue of ending the crisis that negatively affects the Syrian people. We welcome the rapprochement between Turkey and Syria. We also discussed the issue of Sudan. I conveyed Egypt's efforts. " .
