In a statement regarding the Iranian missile shot down in Hatay, President Erdoğan said, "We have made the necessary warnings to prevent a similar incident from happening again. The importance of Turkey's friendship must be understood. No one should be in a position that undermines the law of neighborliness."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the iftar program held with tradesmen and artisans at the Beştepe National Exhibition Hall.
Making important statements regarding the agenda, Erdoğan noted that necessary warnings have been made to Iran regarding the ballistic munitions shot down in Hatay. Erdoğan stated, "We are meticulously taking all precautions in coordination with our allies in the event of a risk to our country's security. We clearly and explicitly demonstrated our sensitivity in yesterday's incident. We also made the necessary warnings to prevent a similar incident from recurring. We emphasized the importance of recognizing the value of Turkey's friendship."
Highlights from President Erdoğan's speech are as follows:
"Our world is experiencing unprecedented days in recent history. A new war and hot conflict is added every day. Unfortunately, the international community, especially the Western world, is once again content to just watch all of this. The regional tension due to airstrikes against our neighbor Iran has reached a frightening level. Hundreds of civilians, including innocent children, have lost their lives. The missiles and kamikaze drones sent by Iran to other countries in the region have posed a risk of spreading the fire to a much larger area.
"WE HAVE ACTIVATED THE ESCALATION MOBILE SYSTEM"
With the announcement of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, there have been increases in oil and natural gas prices of up to 20%. To prevent the geopolitical developments and resource-based increases from affecting fuel prices, we have activated the escalation mobile system. Accordingly, if the prices of gasoline, diesel, and LPG increase, up to 75% of the increase amount will be applied by reducing the special consumption tax (SCT) on these products. In other words, if the price increase for these products is 10 lira, only 2.5 lira of this amount will be reflected on the sign, while the remaining 7.5 lira will be covered by taxes. Thus, we will have both prevented opportunists from disrupting the market under the pretext of fuel price increases and shared the burden of our citizens as a state until the fluctuations in oil and natural gas prices subside.

We are carefully monitoring all these developments that have negative repercussions in a wide range from the economy to trade, from security to tourism and agriculture. We do not show the slightest negligence or hesitation in ensuring the security of our borders and airspace. In the event of a risk to our country's security, we are meticulously taking all precautions in coordination with our allies. We clearly and explicitly demonstrated our sensitivity in yesterday's incident. We also made the necessary warnings to prevent a similar incident from recurring. We emphasized the importance of recognizing the value of Turkey's friendship. As a country and a nation, while our struggle for peace has been evident since day one, no one should be in a faulty attitude that undermines the rights of neighborhood and brotherhood."
