The Women's Empowerment directive, signed by President Erdoğan, has been published in the Official Gazette. The Women's Empowerment Strategy Document and Action Plan, along with the Women's Empowerment Coordination Board and the Women's Empowerment Provincial Coordination Boards, will begin their work in line with the decisions made.

With the aim of ensuring that women benefit fully and equally from rights, opportunities, and resources in every field, especially in education, science, health, politics, economy, and working life, a general directive on the Empowerment of Women was published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.



The effective date of the directive has been recorded as March 8.



"THE STRATEGY DOCUMENT AND ACTION PLAN FOR WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT HAS BEEN ENFORCED"



The directive states: "Important policies are being implemented to ensure that women in our country benefit fully and equally from rights, opportunities, and resources in every field, especially in education, science, health, politics, economy, and working life, and to increase their representation effectively at all levels. In this regard, the Strategy Document and Action Plan for Women's Empowerment (2024-2028) has been prepared and enforced under the coordination of the Ministry of Family and Social Services (the Ministry). It is important to ensure that these policies are implemented in a comprehensive manner, effectively, and in a coordinated way at both central and local levels.



"THE COORDINATION BOARD FOR WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED"



To monitor, evaluate, ensure coordination and cooperation for all activities aimed at effectively delivering services to women, a "Coordination Board for Women's Empowerment" (the Board) has been established under the chairmanship of the Minister of Family and Social Services, with the participation of the relevant deputy ministers from the Ministries of Justice, Labor and Social Security, Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Interior, National Education, Health, Industry and Technology, Agriculture and Forestry, and Trade; the Strategy and Budget Directorate, the Communication Directorate, the Turkish Human Rights and Equality Institution, the Higher Education Council, the Radio and Television Supreme Council, the Information Technologies and Communication Authority, the Social Security Institution, the Turkish Employment Agency, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Support Administration, and the Women Entrepreneurs Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, along with the General Director of Women's Status.



"PROVINCIAL COORDINATION BOARDS FOR WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT WILL BE ESTABLISHED"



It will carry out studies to make public policies sensitive to gender equality through tools such as gender-sensitive analysis and budgeting.



In order to effectively carry out and monitor activities related to women's empowerment at the local level, Provincial Coordination Boards for Women's Empowerment (Provincial Boards) will be established in all provinces, chaired by the Governor, with the participation of the Provincial Directors of Family and Social Services, Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, National Education, Health, Industry and Technology, Agriculture and Forestry, Trade, Social Security, Labor and Employment Agency, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Support Administration, and the authorized senior representative of the Women Entrepreneurs Board of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, along with the Coordinators of the Investment Support Offices of Development Agencies.
