Medical professor, writer, and poet Hasan Hüsrev Hatemi passed away at the age of 87. Diagnosed with colon cancer in 2007, Hatemi received the Necip Fazıl Saygı Award from President Erdoğan.
Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüsrev Hatemi, a prominent figure recognized in both the medical world and literature in Turkey, passed away at the age of 88.
Hatemi's death was announced by Dergah Publications on their social media account.
The statement included the following expressions:
"Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüsrev Hatemi has bid farewell to this mortal world. He was our elder brother, our friend, our doctor, our companion in troubles, our writer. May the Almighty God embrace him in the seas of mercy, and grant patience to his family, colleagues, friends, and students. He brought healing to many patients, knowledge to many students, smiles to many people, and was the eye for many flowers. There are many more whom he guided, held their hands, and made them intimate with his conversations. Now, all of these are carried in his bag for his journey to the afterlife. 'We know well,' brother Hatemi. May your path be clear, and your place be paradise."
KNOWN FOR HIS INTERNAL MEDICINE WORKS
Hatemi, known especially for his work in internal medicine and his poetry, was born on December 12, 1938, in Istanbul. He received his medical education at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty and served as a faculty member at the same institution for many years.
Continuing his academic career as an internal medicine specialist, Hatemi contributed to medical education by training many students.
ALSO PRODUCED WORKS IN ESSAY AND MEMOIR GENRES
In addition to poetry, Hatemi produced works in the genres of essay and memoir, addressing themes of humanity, life, death, fate, belief, and mysticism in his writings.
Among the works written by the master pen are "Reaching Consensus Without Corruption," "The Book of Words," "What Happened to This Yunus," "Birds and Time," "Let's Get Acquainted," and "The Knight of Life."
