Protests continue following the detention of 90 suspects, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, as part of the ongoing investigations into "Corruption" and "Terror" directed at the IMM. During the speech of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel in Saraçhane, a group among the crowd caused a disturbance. The police intervened against individuals in the group who threw flammable and explosive materials.
POLICE DID NOT ALLOW THE GROUP TO MARCH TO TAKSIM
Some individuals from the crowd began to walk towards Bozdoğan Arch to reach Taksim. Police teams waiting in front of the arch did not allow the demonstrators to proceed towards Taksim as a precaution.
THEY BROKE THE WINDOWS AND DOORS OF THE IMM BUILDING AND ENTERED
There were occasional scuffles between the police and the large group that continued to wait in front of the IMM's Saraçhane building until late at night. The police attempted to disperse the group, which continued to wait without leaving the area, by using tear gas and water cannons. The group, trying to escape the intervention, headed towards the IMM building. After overcoming the security barriers in front of the building, those in the group who forced the door broke the door and windows to enter when it did not open.
