Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met on Wednesday with Afghanistan's acting Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob in the capital Doha.
Talks between the two sides dwelt on the situation in Afghanistan, the latest regional and international developments as well as issues of mutual concern, the emir's office said in a statement.
Tamim underlined the importance of "working towards achieving stability and national reconciliation in Afghanistan," the statement said.
Qatar has emerged as a major power broker in Afghanistan over the past decade, especially following the fall of the capital Kabul to the Taliban movement last year.
