Rain is coming to Istanbul! A date has even been given.

Dr. Deniz Demirhan, a faculty member of the Department of Climate Science and Meteorological Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), stated, "As of Thursday, there is a possibility of precipitation in the Marmara Region. The rainfall may continue until October 4. With this, we expect a drop in temperatures."

The Marmara Region will be under the influence of a new wave of rainy weather starting from the middle of the week. Meteorology experts indicate that the rains, which will begin on Thursday, may continue until October 4th.

"A DROP OF 10 DEGREES IN TEMPERATURE IS POSSIBLE"

Dr. Deniz Demirhan, a faculty member of the Climate Science and Meteorology Engineering Department at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), stated that a significant drop in temperatures is expected:

"Currently, temperatures are around 24-25 degrees. In the coming days, there is a possibility of a drop of nearly 10 degrees. Rain is expected in the Marmara Region starting Thursday. We anticipate a decrease in temperatures with the rains continuing until October 4th."

"HIGH POSSIBILITY OF DECREASE IN SNOWFALL"

Demirhan, who also pointed out long-term climate trends, emphasized that a decrease in rainfall has been observed across Turkey, especially in the Marmara region:

"In the long term, a decrease in rainfall and an increase in temperatures are expected. Additionally, there is a very high probability of a decrease in total snowfall between two to five millimeters."

AKOM ALSO WARNED

The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) had also issued similar warnings. The statement noted that the weather would be sunny until the middle of the week, with temperatures ranging between 26-28°C, and that Istanbul would again face cool and rainy weather starting Thursday.
