Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Chairman of the Future Party, reacted to the 4 years and 6 months prison sentence given to the informant Nevzat Bahtiyar in the Narin Güran murder case. Davutoğlu stated, "It is important to determine the sentence based on the exact assessment of his intent not to provide information to the units for 19 days, in order to alleviate the discomfort in the public conscience."
A decision was made in the case regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır. The court sentenced mother Yüksel Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and brother Enes Güran to aggravated life imprisonment, while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
DAVUTOĞLU'S REACTION
Ahmet Davutoğlu, the Chairman of the Future Party, reacted to the sentence given to Nevzat Bahtiyar after the decision.
In a statement on his social media account, Davutoğlu said, "Although it seems that the court panel has formed the opinion that Nevzat Bahtiyar did not participate in the crime, the fact that this person did not provide any information to the authorities for 19 days regarding a child's body that he personally carried and attempted to destroy constitutes a serious crime, and the sentence given has caused deep discomfort in the public conscience. It is important to determine the intent behind his failure to inform the relevant units during those 19 days and to ensure that the sentencing and discretion are based on the conclusion reached, in order to alleviate this discomfort in the public conscience."
