Reaction from the Batman Municipality to former mayor Gülistan Sönük.

Batman Municipality Co-Chair Gülistan Sönük, who was dismissed by the Ministry of Interior due to a terrorism investigation and replaced by a trustee, drew reactions with her remarks about "family".

In a program she attended, Sönük stated, "We were shocked when we first went to the municipality and encountered posters praising marriage and considering the family institution very important in the Women's Policies Directorate building." A written response came from Batman Municipality regarding Sönük's statements.

In the statement made by Batman Municipality, it was reminded that Gülistan Sönük, who was suspended from her position, had made a statement saying, "We were shocked when we first went to the municipality and encountered posters praising marriage and considering the family institution very important in the Women's Policies Directorate building."

The statement from Batman Municipality continued with the following remarks:

"The family institution is the 'mortar of our civilization and the essence of Anatolia!' However, we were not surprised by your distorted perspective and hostility towards the family. Previously, we had seen that you were so disconnected from reality that you would claim a male director was appointed to our Women's and Family Services Directorate.

"WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOUR TOXIC IDEAS HAVE NOT FOUND A RESPONSE IN SOCIETY"

Today, you express that you are 'shocked' when you see the works that place the family at the center of life by our Women's and Family Services Directorate. You openly reveal the hatred and prejudices in your mind at every opportunity. We want you to know that your toxic ideas, which disregard women, the family, and the sanctity of marriage, have not found a response in society.

While you continue to be shocked, we will continue to work decisively for the well-being and prosperity of our families. While you keep talking, our women will continue to exist more strongly in production, employment, and society. Respectfully announced to the public."
