In Antalya, a person identified as selling two Macaw parrots, which are subject to special permission for sale, without proper documentation, was fined 617,392 Turkish lira, and the parrots were confiscated. An investigation has also been initiated against the individual who was found to have purchased one baby parrot for 50,000 lira.

The Antalya Police Department's Public Order Branch Environmental Nature and Animal Protection Bureau (HAYDİ) teams took action upon a tip-off received by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the detection by the Antalya Nature Conservation and National Parks 6th Regional Directorate.

2 PARROTS SEIZED

It was determined that an individual named S.B. (49) was engaged in the trade of a Macaw parrot, which requires special permission, for a price of 50,000 lira. Antalya Nature Conservation and National Parks officials and HAYDİ teams went to S.B.'s home in the Gençlik neighborhood of Muratpaşa district to conduct a search. During the search, 2 Macaw parrots, one female, which were subject to special permission for sale but lacked sales documents, were found and seized from the house.

SELLER FINED RECORD AMOUNT

While the parrots were handed over to the zoo officials, S.B. was imposed a total fine of 617,392 TL for violating the Law on Hunting (Law No. 4915) and the Environmental Law (Law No. 2872).

BUYER ALSO RECEIVED A FINE

Meanwhile, an investigation was initiated against K.G., who was determined to have purchased a baby parrot for 50,000 lira.
