In the case of the murder of Narin Güran, it was decided to release Birsen, Fuat, and Maşallah Güran, who were being tried in detention for the crime of 'aiding and abetting the offender.'
A new development has occurred in the case where 12 defendants, 6 of whom are detained, and 3 children who were led to crime, are being tried for the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır.
The 7th Criminal Chamber of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals decided to release Birsen, Fuat, and Maşallah Güran, who were detained for the crime of "aiding a criminal." Birsen, Fuat, and Maşallah Güran had been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The investigation into the murder of Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21, 2024, in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found in the Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8, 2024, was completed regarding 12 people, 6 of whom are detained, and 3 children who were led to crime, by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The indictment prepared by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting prison sentences ranging from 6 months to 5 years for 12 people for the crime of "aiding a criminal," was accepted by the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance, while the indictment prepared for the children R.A. (16), M.G. (16), and İ.K. (17) for the same crime was accepted by the 2nd Juvenile Court.
The request of the Diyarbakır 2nd Juvenile Court to merge their case with the case opened against the 12 defendants, 6 of whom are detained, at the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance was accepted.
MOTHER, BROTHER, AND UNCLE RECEIVED LIFE SENTENCES
The investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding mother Yüksel, brother Enes, uncle Salim Güran, and Nevzat Bahtiyar was completed, and the indictment prepared for 4 defendants requesting aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional murder of a child in complicity" was accepted by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court on October 23, 2024.
The trial of the defendants began on November 7, 2024, and during the hearing on December 28, 2024, the court panel sentenced the detained defendants Yüksel, Enes, and Salim Güran to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional murder of a child in complicity," while Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to hiding Narin's lifeless body in the Eğertutmaz Stream, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence" and their detention status was continued.
The 1st Criminal Chamber of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeals found the prison sentences given to the defendants mother Yüksel, brother Enes, uncle Salim Güran, and Nevzat Bahtiyar in the Narin Güran murder case to be in accordance with the law.
